# Directions:

01 - Cook bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, approximately 5-7 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
02 - Lightly butter one side of each bread slice evenly.
03 - Place two bread slices buttered side down on a clean work surface. Layer each with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices. Season avocado and tomato with salt and pepper. Top with remaining cheese slices, then cover with remaining bread slices buttered side up.
04 - Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place assembled sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown with melted cheese, approximately 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula.
05 - Remove sandwiches from skillet and let cool for 1-2 minutes. Slice diagonally in half and serve immediately.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It tastes like summer and comfort had a baby, with creamy avocado balancing out the salty crunch of bacon.
  • You can make it on a Tuesday night without a plan, using what's already in your fridge.
  • The cheese melts into every layer, turning a simple sandwich into something that feels like a treat.
02 -
  • If your heat is too high, the bread will burn before the cheese melts, so keep it medium-low and be patient.
  • Blot your tomato slices with a paper towel before adding them, or they'll release water and make the bread soggy.
03 -
  • Let your butter come to room temperature before spreading, cold butter tears the bread and makes everything harder than it needs to be.
  • If your bacon is extra fatty, dab it with a paper towel before layering it in, so the sandwich doesn't get greasy.
  • Press the sandwich gently with your spatula while it cooks, it helps the cheese melt into all the little gaps and holds everything together.
