Festive deviled eggs styled as eerie eyeballs for spooky occasions. Vegetarian, gluten-free, quick to prepare.
# Components:
→ Filling
02 - 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
03 - 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
04 - 1 teaspoon white vinegar
05 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - Salt, to taste
07 - Black pepper, to taste
08 - Green or blue gel food coloring (optional, for monster effect)
→ Decoration
09 - 6 black olives, sliced into rounds
10 - 1 small jarred roasted red pepper, cut into thin strips
11 - Paprika or red food coloring (optional, for extra effect)
# Directions:
01 - Arrange eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover, remove from heat, and allow eggs to sit for 10 minutes.
02 - Drain hot water and cool the eggs under cold running water. Carefully peel each egg and slice lengthwise.
03 - Gently remove yolks, transferring them to a mixing bowl. Mash yolks finely with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper until the mixture is smooth.
04 - If desired, incorporate green or blue gel food coloring for a monster appearance; stir until hue is uniform.
05 - Spoon or pipe the yolk filling neatly into the hollowed egg white halves.
06 - Position a slice of black olive atop each mound of filling to mimic an eyeball's pupil.
07 - Arrange thin strips of roasted red pepper radiating outward from the yolk filling, creating bloodshot lines.
08 - Lightly dust with paprika or apply red food coloring using a small brush for a more vivid monster look.
09 - Maintain in the refrigerator until presentation.
