Recipe Questions

What type of tortillas work best for this dish?

Large flour tortillas (8–10 inch) provide a sturdy, crisp base that holds toppings well during cooking.

Can I use other sauces besides tomato passata?

Yes, pesto or other tomato-based sauces can be used to vary the flavor profile while maintaining moisture.

How can I make the base extra crispy?

Lightly brushing olive oil on the tortilla before adding toppings enhances crispiness when baked or cooked in a skillet.

Are there non-vegetarian topping options?

Adding drained canned tuna, cooked sausage, or pepperoni provides non-vegetarian alternatives for added protein.

What are good pantry topping combinations?

Combinations like olives with roasted peppers, artichokes with sun-dried tomatoes, or corn with mushrooms create varied, flavorful options.

How long should I cook it in the oven or skillet?

Bake at 220°C (425°F) for 8–10 minutes until crisp and cheese is melted, or cook covered 3–4 minutes each side in a skillet.
